The Master of Arts in Teaching program is designed to support those who hold a baccalaureate degree and want to become educators through the Nebraska Department of Education’s (NDE) Alternative Program Teaching Permit pathways.

Are you passionate about teaching and ready to make a difference in Nebraska's classrooms? Wayne State College is excited to offer a new Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) graduate degree, specifically designed for individuals who already hold a bachelor’s degree and are looking to transition into a fulfilling career in education through Nebraska Department of Education’s Alternative Program Teaching Permit pathways.

Our MAT program offers a streamlined, alternative certification route through the Nebraska Department of Education, providing a clear path to initial teacher certification. No matter where you are teaching across Nebraska, our program ensures you meet all necessary requirements for temporary permits, allowing you to continue making a meaningful impact in the classroom while completing your certification.

This innovative program is designed for those with a B.A. or B.S. in English who aspire to become secondary English teachers, accommodating working professionals and those balancing multiple commitments.
