Continue your journey
Students transfer to Wayne State College for many reasons: after completing a two-year degree, a change in academic interest, or simply a change of heart. Whatever the reason, you’ll find a home at Wayne State. We welcome you to our classrooms and campus to share your life experiences. If you are considering the next step in your education - and are seeking an environment that embraces transfer students - we invite you to explore Wayne State.
Evaluating your transfer credit
We want to help you maximize the credits you've already earned as you continue toward your education goals. Our staff will work with you to evaluate your classes and transfer as many credits as possible. In general, you may transfer up to 66 credit hours from any accredited community college (unless you are following a transfer pathway that allows for additional transfer credits). There is no limit on credit hours transferred from an accredited four-year college or university.
If you have an A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited community college, you may already meet our General Studies requirements*. All you have to do is provide an official transcript indicating the completion of the A.A. or A.S. degree. It’s that easy.
*Some programs have specific General Studies requirements. All other transfer students must meet all General Studies requirements. General Studies transfer courses will be considered on a course-by-course basis.
- Only official transcripts received by the Office of Admissions at Wayne State College will be evaluated. Hand-carried transcripts are not official.
- Evaluations will be conducted after you have been admitted to Wayne State College.
- Credit will be awarded for grades of "C-" or better from courses taken at a regionally accredited institution. Credits from institutions not carrying such accreditation will not be accepted, except on appeal or through an existing articulation agreement.
- You may transfer up to a combined total of 66 hours from all accredited community or junior colleges attended, unless otherwise specified by an articulation agreement.
- If, after receiving the official results of the transfer credit evaluation, you believe additional credit should be awarded, an appeal may be filed. Download and print the transfer credit appeal form and follow the instructions. The form is also available at the Records and Registration Office.
Our Transfer Guide will help you determine how coursework from other colleges and universities will typically transfer to Wayne State College. The information provided is only a guide and should be considered unofficial. Your final evaluation will be completed through the Records and Registration Office and the academic departments.
Incoming transfer students are eligible for Wayne State College’s current student scholarship opportunities. And, if you're transferring to Wayne State from a specific community college, you may qualify for exclusive transfer student scholarships.

Wayne State College was very accepting of my transfer classes when other colleges weren’t. I graduated from Metropolitan Community College and was looking for colleges with a great program in my field of study. Wayne State was a clear option for me, and finding out my credits would transfer was a huge incentive. Earning my bachelor’s degree will help prepare me for certain jobs that wouldn’t be possible through my previous associate degree.

I transferred to Wayne State from Western Iowa Tech Community College. The process to transfer was so much easier than I thought it would be. All the credits and classes I took over at WITCC were transferred, which amazed me. Also, WSC offered me in-state tuition because of my good GPA. As an international student, that is a really rare offer. I have met nice people and made new friends. The staff and professors are welcoming, and I feel that they really care for students' success.
