Application procedures and admission requirements
To complete your application for admission, you'll need to submit certain materials to the Office of Admissions. To see what steps you need to take, select a category below that best describes you.
Admission requirements
To be admitted to Wayne State, you must graduate from an accredited high school. While students meeting the minimum state requirement for graduation from high school will be admitted, such students will be better prepared to succeed if they take a college preparatory curriculum in high school. For this reason, we strongly recommend the following high school curriculum:
- English/Language Arts: 4 years
- Mathematics (including algebra): 3 years
- Social Studies/History: 3 years
- Sciences: 3 years
We also recommend additional courses in foreign language, fine and performing arts, and computer literacy.
Application procedures
Step 1: Complete the application for admission.
Step 2: Send your high school transcripts.
- Upon enrollment, request that your official high school transcripts be sent directly from your school to Wayne State. This can be done any time after completion of your sixth semester in high school.
- If you earned any college credit while in high school, request official transcripts from each institution you earned credit from to be sent to Wayne State.
- A final high school transcript documenting your official graduation date from that high school must be submitted prior to the start of the semester for which admission is being sought.
Step 3: Report your test scores.
- ACT/SAT scores are not required for admission; however, freshmen applicants under the age of 21 are encouraged to submit them to help determine which courses they should take during their first year. Math course placement by ACT/SAT score
- ACT/SAT scores may also be used to determine academic scholarship eligibility and/or academic eligibility for intercollegiate athletics to meet NCAA requirements.
- ACT/SAT scores and high school GPA can be self reported in your application.
Note: If you are an international student, please refer to our admissions procedures for international undergraduate students.
Step 1: Complete the application for admission.
