Curacao Student Experience at WSC
Wayne State College has a strong relationship with the people of Curacao, an island located off the coast of South America. Each year, several international students from Curacao enroll at WSC. They recognize Wayne State as a high-quality academic institution that’s also very affordable. The climate in Nebraska may be different than Curacao’s, but students have come to call Wayne home because of the welcoming environment and small community feel.

"When I first came here, I was pleasantly surprised that Wayne is a small and friendly community. It is a great place to study, and it's easy to fit in through the variety of clubs and groups on campus. I am currently in the rugby and soccer clubs. Through the Friends of International Students Program, I have met many people."

"I transferred to Wayne State from Western Iowa Tech Community College. The process to transfer was so much easier than I thought it would be. All the credits and classes I took over at WITCC were transferred, which amazed me. Also, WSC offered me in-state tuition because of my good GPA. As an international student, that is a really rare offer. I have met nice people and made new friends. The staff and professors are welcoming and I feel that they care for students' success."

“Wayne felt like a second home straight away. I love the people here; they are so friendly and just interested in who you are. Being able to play soccer has helped me to meet a lot of my friends, and there is always something to do on campus. I like that I can add a minor to my degree.”

"Wayne State College has been the right institution for me to achieve my academic and personal goals. I am able to utilize my potential in a friendly and diverse environment. I have found that people are interested to learn about different cultures and allow international students to concentrate on their studies while living in a foreign country."
Ellie Thuy Tran - Saigon, Vietnam

"Arriving here straight from high school, I was a little nervous. However, the first week of school was really calm and exciting. The people here are friendly, caring, and very interested in who you are. The cost at Wayne State College is reasonable. This will be my first time to experience snow, and I’m kind of excited."
