Wildcat traditions you don't want to miss!
Week of Welcome
Get ready to kick off your Wildcat journey during Week of Welcome (WOW)! It all starts when you move to campus and continues through your first week of classes. You’ll jump into a week full of connection and excitement — from convocation and small-group meetups to class photos, foam-drop block parties, petting zoos, club fairs, bingo nights, and live music in the Willow Bowl. This high-energy, immersive experience helps you meet new friends, explore campus, and start college with confidence.
Family Day and Lil' Sibs Weekend
Bring the whole crew and celebrate Family Day and Lil' Sibs Weekend every fall! This jam-packed weekend is designed for families and students to connect, laugh, and make lasting memories together. From arts and crafts, balloon animals, and caricatures to planetarium shows, museum tours, and games, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy brunch or dinner in the Student Center, cheer at the tailgate and football game under the lights, and cap it all off with a spectacular fireworks show. Siblings can even stay overnight for extra fun and bonding time on campus.

Homecoming / Wildcat Days
Homecoming is a long-standing tradition at Wayne State College. It is a time for alumni to return to their alma mater and reconnect with current and past Wildcats. It's also a time for current students to celebrate the Wildcat spirit during Wildcat Days. Student activities during this time typically include crowning of Homecoming royalty, a variety of games and trivia, Willy Olympics, Greek Olympics, pep rally, bonfire, parade, and football game.

Performing arts events
Dive into the spotlight or enjoy a show at Wayne State’s vibrant music and Performing Arts scene! Catch incredible concerts, plays, musicals, and recitals throughout the year — or get involved yourself by joining choirs, bands, theatre productions, or drama club. Whether you’re on stage or behind the scenes, it’s your chance to create, perform, and connect with a community that celebrates creativity and passion.

Planetarium shows
Ready for a cosmic adventure? Visit Wayne State’s Fred G. Dale Planetarium for immersive full-dome and laser shows that take you on journeys through our solar system, distant galaxies, and more.
