Campus Security officers maintain a visible presence across campus and provide 24/7 response to safety and emergency situations. This proactive approach helps deter criminal activity while ensuring a rapid response when incidents occur. Officers patrol campus on foot and in marked vehicles, and respond to all safety and emergency situations.

Safety services, resources, and information
Wayne State College supports campus safety through a combination of proactive security services, prevention-focused programs, and community involvement. Campus Security works closely with students, employees, and local law enforcement to promote awareness, prevent incidents, and respond quickly when needed. This shared responsibility helps create a campus environment where safety is a priority for everyone.
Wayne State offers a variety of safety resources and services designed to support prevention, preparedness, and response.
Personal safety and support services
If you or someone you know is in crisis, support is available. Wayne State provides access to immediate help for students experiencing urgent mental health or personal safety concerns.
Wayne State College offers licensed counseling services to support students’ mental health and well-being. Counselors provide support, outreach, and education for a variety of concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, and personal challenges.
Wayne State College Student Health Services provides medical consultation and treatment for students. Minor illnesses and injuries can be treated on campus, with referrals available when additional care is needed.
Safety escorts are available to students, employees, and visitors on campus. A Campus Security officer or safety patrol staff member can accompany individuals walking on campus, especially during nighttime hours or anytime someone feels uncomfortable walking alone.

Wildcat Wheels provides free, safe rides within Wayne city limits for WSC students and their guests. The service operates from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Thursday through Saturday during the fall and spring semesters.

Safety alerts, operations, and reports
If an accident involving personal injury or property damage occurs on campus, contact Campus Security at 402-375-7216 as soon as possible.
Campus Security will assist with the situation, including helping coordinate appropriate medical attention if needed. An incident report will be completed to document the event.
The CARE Team (Campus Assessment, Response, and Evaluation) helps identify and respond to situations where a student may be in distress or need additional support.
Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report concerning behaviors so the CARE Team can assess the situation and connect individuals with appropriate resources.
Wayne State College uses multiple communication channels to notify students, employees, and the public about emergencies, severe weather, and other situations that may impact campus operations.
Alerts may include weather warnings, campus closures, fire incidents, or criminal activity.

Hazing threatens the safety and well-being of the campus community and is prohibited in all organizations and activities at Wayne State College.
Students and employees can find information about what hazing is, how to get help, and resources dedicated to prevention. If you see or experience hazing, you are encouraged to report it.
Motorized vehicles operated on campus must be registered and display a valid parking permit. Vehicles must also be properly registered in accordance with state law.

Residence halls at Wayne State College are designed to provide a safe and secure living environment for students.
Hall and room access
All residence halls require electronic access using a student ID card. Students use their ID cards to enter their assigned residence hall, with limited access to other halls during designated times.Each student is also issued a room key for their assigned space. If a student is locked out, a residence hall staff member can assist with access.

Wayne State College is a weapons-free campus. Firearms, explosives, fireworks, and other weapons are not permitted on campus property or at college-sponsored activities.
This policy applies to all individuals, regardless of whether they are licensed to carry a weapon. Only certified law enforcement officials with proper authorization are permitted to carry weapons on campus.
Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action and may also be referred to law enforcement.
Students participating in off-campus activities that involve equipment such as firearms must arrange for off-campus storage.
Everyday help
Lost and found services are available through the Campus Security Office, located in the Campus Services Building (704 Lindahl Drive).
Items found on campus should be brought to Campus Security as soon as possible. Lost items can be reported or claimed by contacting Campus Security at 402-375-7216.
Unclaimed items may be donated if not retrieved within a designated period.
Lost and found services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
If you are locked out of your vehicle or have a flat tire on campus, Campus Security may be able to assist. Services may include unlocking vehicles and providing air for tires.

Options for reporting Title IX violations include filing a report with the college, which can be done anonymously, and/or with law enforcement. Reports can be filed by the alleged victim or a third party who is aware of allegations of sexual violence or sex harassment, including other students or college employees.
