Helping to grow small businesses
The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is part of a statewide program that provides business consultation services to small business owners or prospective business owners in Nebraska.

Learning to serve
Through Service-Learning, our students contribute nearly $250,000 per year to the region in community service to local non-profits and area businesses.

Helping to sustain the workforce of Northeast Nebraska
The Career Scholars Program is a coop education experience that provides businesses in Norfolk, Columbus, and Grand Island with a pool of skilled WSC graduates who are workforce ready.

BHECN Northeast
The Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN) Northeast provides career preparation and outreach programming for students in the behavioral health field.

Providing substitute teachers for local schools
The Northeast Nebraska Teacher Academy (NENTA) trains eligible WSC students to serve as substitute teachers, helping to alleviate the serious shortage of subs in Northeast Nebraska.

The Career Services Office supports employers with recruiting, job posting, and hiring Wayne State College students and alumni.

Educational resources and opportunities
As an institution of higher learning, Wayne State College offers a wealth of knowledge and resources that the community can tap into. Whether that be expert faculty that can be consulted, research provided by our labs and students for the community, science lessons and field trips to the planetarium or other museums for area schools, all the resources at the library and IRC, etc. Include links to each relevant page.
Library and Instructional Resource Center
The U.S. Conn Library at Wayne State Colleges serves the campus and the region with a wealth of instructional, research, and general information needs. The Instructional Resource Center (IRC) within the library also provides laminating, large format printing, binding, button making, die cuts, 3D printing and more. Services are available to all students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Planetarium
The Fred G. Dale Planetarium at Wayne State is often visited on field trips by elementary school students. Teachers and community members alike can arrange for astronomy lessons and private shows.

Natural History Museum
The A. Jewell Schock Natural History Museum offers hands-on learning opportunities to kids in grades K-12. Students can participate in fossil identification, junior microscopy, soil hydrology activities, fossil reconstruction, meteor impact, insect pinning, and aquatic macroinvertebrate study.

WSC offers professional growth and personal enrichment opportunities. Employers can also tap into our programs for specialized employee training.
Conference and professional education
Wayne State hosts conferences throughout the year for adults to participate in professional development opportunities and earn continuing education credit. Professional development conferences vary throughout the year, but in the past have included:
- Northeast Nebraska Behavioral Health Conference
- Career and Technical Education Conference
- Family and Consumer Sciences Conference

Arts and entertainment
- Black & Gold Series - For more than 50 years, this series has entertained the region through full-scale operate and theatrical productions, dance performances, orchestras, and more.
- Nordstrand Art Gallery - Open to the public, the art gallery promotes visual arts throughout the year with exhibits from students, faculty, and guest artists.
- Performing Arts - Thousands of guests annually attend our student and faculty music concerts, recitals, and theatre performances.
- Student Media - Our award-winning campus newspaper, radio station, and TV/film studios serve to entertain and educate the community.
- Wildcat Athletics - Sports fans unite in support of the 'Cats at various athletic events throughout the year.
- WSC Press - The Press celebrates and publishes contemporary authors of the Great Plains region through a variety of writer series events, slams, and festivals.
