Dr. Kristina Nelsen is an education professor at Wayne State College. She teaches special education and education foundation courses.
Before teaching at WSC, Nelsen was a first-grade teacher and a K-8 special education teacher in Nebraska. She is currently the Board of Education secretary in Homer, Neb., where she resides with her husband and two children.
Nelsen is a member of the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE), the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), and the Nebraska State Literacy Association (NSLA).
Nelsen's teaching interests include collaboration, MTSS, differentiation strategies, and advocacy. Her research interests include co-teaching among K-12 educators and special educators, MTSS, and developing successful professional learning communities within K-12 schools.
