Studying life sciences at Wayne State

The life sciences involve many branches of science that study life and organisms, including biology and medicine. As a student here, you’ll develop crucial laboratory skills that are applicable to a variety of science and health fields. Our curriculum is designed to be exciting and challenging, paving the way for your educational experience to prepare you for a wide range of medical, industrial, or academic careers. Many of our students go on to medical and dental school, as well as various other health programs such as physician assistant and physical therapy. Our faculty frequently hear back from graduates who praise the preparation they received at Wayne State College.

Our science labs, which are among the best in the state, are used regularly by a range of classes to complete our rigorous science curriculum. The Carhart Science Building features biological, physical, and chemical science labs with cutting-edge equipment, while our human cadaver lab provides students with the opportunity to learn about human anatomy and physiology beyond textbooks by providing access to human cadavers donated to science. Our Anatomage Tables allow you to virtually dissect cadavers, further preparing students for health care professions.

At WSC, S-STEM scholarships are awarded to selected incoming first-year students majoring in biology, chemistry, and math. S-STEM scholarships are funded through a National Science Foundation sponsored program designed to increase the number of students pursuing degrees in STEM fields. If selected for the program, you’ll be awarded up to $10,000 per year based on your unmet financial need.
