
Douglas Christensen, Ph.D.
Professor
Dr. Doug Christensen is a biology professor at Wayne State College and the chair of the Life Sciences Department. He is a member of the Nebraska Academy of Sciences, Golden Key National Honor Society, Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi, and is a Nebraska INBRE Associate. He is the contact for the RHOP medical lab sciences program.
Christensen is also a recipient of the Wayne State College Student Senate Professor of the Year award and the State Nebraska Bank Teaching Excellence Award.
Christensen's research interests include the utilization of molecular technology in the study and manipulation of pathogenic micro-organisms. His teaching interests include utilization of molecular biology in a broad range of sciences (including medical, environmental, and industrial fields); teaching about battles between the immune system and the evolving world of bacteria and viruses; microbiology; molecular genetics; and immunology.
