Nursing Degree Programs

Wayne State offers multiple pathways to achieve your nursing degree.

Choose a nursing degree program that's right for you.

If you want to be a nurse but aren't sure how to get there, Wayne State has options. While there are several levels of nursing education and various pathways to achieve them, our nursing programs are specifically designed to help you achieve a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). We partner with the University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Nursing (Norfolk, Nebraska) and Creighton University to offer nursing programs and pathways that allow you to achieve your BSN in a seamless fashion.

The 3+1 dual degree accelerated nursing program is a partnership program between Wayne State and Creighton University. You'll spend your first three years at WSC to earn a bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, followed by one year at Creighton University's College of Nursing to earn your accelerated bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from them.

3+1 Accelerated Nursing Program

The early admission nursing pathway is a partnership program between Wayne State and UNMC. You'll spend your first two years at WSC, followed by two years at UNMC's campus in Norfolk, Nebraska. This selective BSN program guarantees early admission to nursing school, serves an increased demand for qualified nurses, and helps meets the state's workforce needs.

Early Admission BSN Program

The accelerated nursing program allows you to complete a bachelor’s degree in any major at WSC while also completing preparatory BSN curriculum. Upon graduation from WSC, you’ll apply to the accelerated BSN program at UNMC’s campus in Norfolk, Nebraska. You’ll then complete one year of nursing courses at UNMC and receive a bachelor's degree in nursing from them.

4+1 Accelerated Nursing Program

While there is no bachelor's degree in "pre-nursing", many students complete a four-year degree before entering an accelerated nursing program. Or, you can start your education at WSC and transfer to a nursing school to earn a BSN from them. Whichever path you choose, you'll receive an excellent education at a low price, making nursing school more attainable.

Pre-Nursing Program

RHOP students in class

Are you from rural Nebraska and interested in nursing?

The pre-nursing program is eligible for the Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP). RHOP educates students from rural Nebraska who will return to practice in rural areas of the state. If selected for RHOP, you’ll receive free tuition at Wayne State College and guaranteed admission into the relevant nursing program at UNMC to earn your nursing degree.
