Dr. Shawn Pearcy is a biology professor at Wayne State College. He is a member of the American Physiological Society, the Nebraska Physiological Society, the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology, and the Nebraska Academy of Sciences.
He is also the contact for the RHOP dental hygiene and dentistry programs.
Pearcy's teaching interests are biology, human physiology, vertebrate embryology, and physiological ecology.
His research interests include:
- expression of PKC from intestinal epithelial cells in response to protein and amino acid deficiencies
- the role of protein quality and energy on the reutilization of endogenous amino acids
- the effects of dietary protein on gastrointestinal and enzyme efficiency of vertebrates
- amino acid complementation to meet dietary requirements of vertebrates
