Help reshape the STEM workforce of Nebraska

The Nebraska S-STEM Program refers to Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engneering, and Math. The program aims to reshape the STEM workforce by increasing the number of low-income students pursuing STEM majors, and ultimately careers in STEM fields. Students in the Nebraska S-STEM program at Wayne State College receive a wide range of academic and financial benefits, including scholarship and research stipends, academic support, travel opportunities, and more.

Program overview

STEM scholarships are available to eligible Wayne State College students pursuing STEM majors. Eligible students can receive up to $10,000 annually, based on their unmet financial needs. These scholarships are funded by the National Science Foundation.

As a student in the Nebraska S-STEM Program, you will be guided by faculty mentors through independent research projects beginning your first year, and you’ll be supported academically by a team of advisors, supplemental instructors, and peer tutors.

While in the program, you’ll also receive a research and travel stipend to attend regional conferences, network with fellow scientists and mathematicians, and present your research.

For the first two years at WSC, you will live in the residence halls alongside other S-STEM scholars, providing you with a community of support and opportunities to develop your leadership and professional skills.

This S-STEM project is supported by NSF Grant 2130142.
