Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP)

BCSP logo

The Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) sets and certifies the technical competency criteria for safety, health, and environmental practitioners. BCSP is dedicated to improving safety practice by ensuring programs meet the challenge of achieving and maintaining quality accredited safety certification. BCSP certifications are recognized as the gold standard in safety certifications.

BCSP has recognized Wayne State College, specifically the Safety Management degree program, with Qualified Academic Program (QAP) status. A QAP is a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program in the safety, health, or environmental field whose curriculum has been reviewed by BCSP and substantially matches the current Associate Safety Professional® (ASP®) examination blueprint.

Graduates of the Safety Management degree program at WSC receive the Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation from BCSP upon successful completion, providing additional recognition and a path to the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification. Accredited in January 2020, BCSP and WSC work together to create the path forward for its safety students.
