Industrial and Engineering Technology at Wayne State
As a student in our Industrial Technology or Engineering Technology programs, you’ll develop a diversified background in areas of construction, manufacturing, drafting, applied engineering, safety, and business management. You’ll learn what it takes to manage new construction projects or ensure workplace safety through various programs and topics taught in the department.
Our programs find their home in the Center for Applied Technology (CAT), where you'll explore emerging technologies such as robotics, advanced computer-integrated manufacturing, and 3D printing, along with traditional technologies like construction, planning, and design. Or, if you’re interested in practical application of sciences and engineering to real-world challenges, you’ll have the opportunity to study product improvement, manufacturing, construction, and engineering operational functions.
A teaching program in Skilled and Technical Sciences Education is also available for those who wish to teach industrial arts in grades 6-12.

Wayne State College is helping me prepare for my future by teaching me in classes using real-life examples and simulating realistic scenarios that I may encounter post-collegiately. Especially in my major-specific classes, my professors are great at explaining how what we are doing applies to the real world, and how the material can be applied in the workforce. My professors are also great at thoroughly explaining the material, encouraging safety protocols, and ensuring that I understand the material before moving on so that I get the most out of my education.
