Withdrawal from College

An official withdrawal is when an enrolled student decides to drop all classes and leave the college after a term begins.

Academic impact of withdrawal

Students may withdraw from all courses through WildcatsOnline. Grades of “W” will be recorded for all students who officially withdraw by the semester deadline. Official withdrawal from college after this time will be permitted only for extraordinary circumstances approved by the Vice President of Student Affairs or designee. Grades of “F” will be given to any student who leaves without officially withdrawing, and a refund will be denied. View withdrawal deadlines on the academic calendar.

Financial impact of withdrawal

Withdrawals, both official and without notice, may result in adjustments to the student's federal financial aid, creating a balance due to the college.

Financial aid may be reduced for a complete withdrawal from school using the federal Return of Title IV calculation or due to a reduction in academic load.

Adjustment schedule
Adjustments for complete withdrawal from college (not for each individual course) will be prorated through 60% of the semester. After the 60% point, no refund is available.

It is the student’s responsibility to check their account balance online by logging in to WildcatsOnline and make payment by the published payment deadline. Billing statements will not be mailed. The Wayne State College Student Financial Services Office will send notifications to students’ WSC email account.

When a student withdraws completely from Wayne State College, federal financial aid such as Pell Grant or Stafford Loans may have to be returned to the government and result in the student owing a bill to Wayne State College.

If a student withdraws completely from Wayne State College, housing charges will be prorated through 60% of the term using the final checkout date to calculate the refund. Food plan charges will be prorated through 60% of the term using the Sunday following the date of withdrawal as the date to calculate the refund.
