Outdoor Recreation Complex
The Outdoor Recreation Complex was resurfaced in the summer of 2021, featuring basketball courts, futsal courts, and tennis courts. The futsal courts offer space for pickleball and are a multipurpose space for numerous additional activities. The ORC also includes two sand volleyball courts, the walking trail, and the disc golf course.
To reserve a space, contact the Campus Recreation Coordinator. Equipment can be checked out at the Rec Center desk.

Sand volleyball courts
The sand volleyball courts located on the northeast edge of the Wayne State campus provide a practice area for the Wildcat beach volleyball team when Mother Nature allows. Womens' Beach Volleyball was added to Wayne State's offering of varsity sports in June 2019 with the first season of competition in the spring of 2020. When dealing with the variation of weather in Northeast Nebraska, the beach volleyball team practices indoors in Rice Auditorium and the Kirk Gardner Indoor Athletic Complex.
The sand courts are also used for intramurals and are open to students and the public when not in use for official college events.
Wildcat Fitness Trail
The Wildcat Fitness Trail is a section of the City of Wayne’s 6-mile bike/hiking trail that’s located on Wayne State’s campus. Most of the trail is surrounded by trees, and it winds around the Ecology Study Area grassland, a natural green space, and along the south edge of the Wayne Country Club’s golf course. The trail provides a great place to walk, run, or just enjoy nature.

Disc golf course
The nine-hole disc golf course starts in an open area by the Wildcat Fitness Trail, then works its way into the trees. Distances range from 200-300 fee per basket hole. The course is used by the WSC Disc Golf Club but is also open to the public.
Intramural fields
Fields used for intramural sports include flag football, soccer, and yard games.
