Many things are provided to students when they live on campus in the residence halls.
Provided furniture
Rooms are equipped with single beds, mattresses, a dresser to be shared, chairs, study desks, and a closet. Students are expected to furnish their own personal belongings such as linens, blankets, pillows, towels, study lamps, and wastebaskets. Rooms are also provided with wired and wireless internet connections.
Bed lofting kits
All campus residence hall beds can be lofted with loft kit materials provided by the College. Lofting kits are provided free of charge. Students may use only lofting kits provided by the College. Please contact the Office of Residence Life with questions or for additional details.
Laundry facilities
All residence halls are equipped with free-use washers and dryers. All washing machines use high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent only. Students should furnish their own irons, ironing boards, and laundry detergents. Students should not dye fabrics in the washing machines. Any malfunction of laundry equipment should be reported immediately to the Office of Residence Life, Kanter Student Center, Room 201.
Student mail and delivery services
Mail to the residence halls is distributed through the Wildcat Mail Room located in the lower cafeteria level of the Kanter Student Center. All delivery service packages (FedEx, UPS, USPS, floral shops, etc.) will deliver to the Wildcat Mail Room, Kanter Student Center lower cafeteria level. Mail that requires a student's signature (certified mail, insured, delivery confirmation, etc.) needs to be signed for and picked up at the college mail room in Hahn Building Room 104D. Students will be notified through their WSC email address when they have mail for pickup. Security of the mail is of great importance, and every effort is made to handle mail carefully. Outgoing mail may be deposited in one of several mailboxes on campus.
The correct address format to send mail to a student’s campus residence hall is:
Student Name
Residence Hall Name, Room #
Wayne State College
1111 Main St.
Wayne, NE 68787
Reception desk services
Each hall has a reception desk near the main entrance of the building. Reception desks are staffed and run by student workers. Residence hall desks are open from 8 p.m. to midnight daily. The main desk is responsible for issuing gaming equipment, checking out vacuums, facilitating guest registration, contacting the hall staff when needed, assisting students with questions, and providing information to the general public.
Repairs
All necessary repairs or replacement of furnishings or equipment should be reported promptly to residence hall staff. A maintenance work request will be forwarded to Campus Services immediately. Students are reminded to check the room carefully and complete the Room Condition Report (RCR) on the condition of all college-owned articles in the room at the time of moving in so they are not unjustly assessed damages or replacement costs for these items when they move out of the residence hall.
