Studying business and economics at Wayne State College
Our programs create graduates who are well equipped to take their place in the world of business, industry, and education. Whatever your interests in the business world, Wayne State offers several areas of concentration within the business administration program, from accounting, management, and marketing, to economics, international business, and supply chain management.
Many of our faculty have working experience as self-employed business owners, business consultants, corporate managers, tax accountants, realtors, lawyers, and CPAs – so you aren’t just learning about academic theory, but also about real experiences from those who have worked in the field. Our dedicated and experienced faculty also provide a student-centered learning environment that challenges you to take advantage of opportunities to learn by doing, whether in class projects, an internship, or by working with a partner employer during your senior year as part of the Career Scholars cooperative education program.
The Department of Business and Economics is among the campus leaders in promoting cooperative education experiences for its students, which means getting an internship or finding that special job couldn’t be easier. What’s more, our online MBA program ranks at the top, so we’ve got you covered if you’re looking to pursue a master’s degree in business administration after you graduate.

The faculty in the Business Department truly care about students at Wayne State. Throughout my time here, they’ve answered any questions I’ve had and given me guidance whenever I’ve asked. I’m in the process of pursuing my CPA license. This is something that Wayne State has prepared me well for. I have already accepted a job after graduation where I’ll be auditing banks and hospitals. This job requires a lot of teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills, all of which have been a focus in my coursework here at Wayne State.
