The new 90- and 92-credit programs have been specifically designed for working professionals who have a clear understanding of their career pathways and what they want to do with their futures.
Wayne State College is proud to announce two new accelerated bachelor’s degrees: the 90-credit Bachelor of Arts or Sciences in Applied Business Administration, which is the first accelerated undergraduate business degree in Nebraska, and the 92-credit Bachelor of Science in Applied Special Education Generalist (K-12). Both programs were approved by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accrediting agency Oct. 22.
These new, fully online degree programs have been specifically designed for working professionals who have a clear understanding of their career pathways and what they want to do with their futures. Developed around the same core academic tenets and foundational disciplinary courses as WSC’s established and respected four-year programs in Business Administration and Special Education, these applied degrees provide adult learners with opportunities to reduce the time they spend learning in order to increase the time they spend earning.
“We are tremendously excited to offer these new accelerated pathways to degrees,” said Wayne State College President Marysz Rames. “Wayne State has long served as an innovator in higher education and these new programs are part of that proud tradition. We look forward to enrolling our first students in programs that are designed to get them across the finish line with their degree in as little as three years or less, depending on their situation. With fewer required credit hours in these programs, students will spend less time and money to earn their degree while securing their place in the workforce.”
Wayne State College’s Department of Business and Economics is an accredited member of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). The College’s educator preparation programs in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and have been approved by the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE). The College’s new accelerated programs have been developed to meet these agencies’ exacting standards.
The new Applied Business Administration degree program will begin in January 2027, with applications being accepted now. The new Applied Special Education degree program will begin in August 2027, with applications opening early in the new year.
