Reading and Writing Supplemental Endorsement

This supplemental endorsement provides additional expertise in the areas of English Language Arts. A supplemental endorsement may be completed in addition to a field endorsement or two subject endorsements. You may choose the Reading and Writing Education endorsement for the grades PK-6 or 7-12, depending on what you plan to teach:

  • The Reading and Writing (PK-6) supplemental endorsement allows you to teach reading and writing to pre-kindergarten through grade 6. Adding this qualification to your education degree will make you an excellent candidate for an elementary teaching job.
  • The Reading and Writing (7-12) endorsement allows you to teach reading and writing to junior high and high school. Adding this qualification to your Education degree will make you an excellent candidate for an upper level teaching job

Wayne State's Reading and Writing endorsement is designed to prepare students for initial teacher licensure/certification in Nebraska. It has not been determined if this program meets requirements for all other states. If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Nebraska, it is strongly recommended that you contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding licensure or certification requirements before beginning an academic program.
