Health Sciences Education Supplemental Endorsement

The Health Sciences Education endorsement will qualify students to teach health sciences topics such as behavioral health, biotechnology research, health infomatics, health sciences, and lifespan performance. The program focuses on helping you learn about the basics of the human body and health care systems. Experience a practicum where you explore the education/training requirements and characteristics of a variety of health care work settings. Working with students in career and technical student organizations such as HOSA-Future Health Professionals will help to develop and build leadership skills to be their future teacher and advisor. Persons with this endorsement will also be eligible for the Work-Based Learning endorsement.

This is a supplemental endorsement and requires an applicant to hold, or earn concurrently, a subject or field endorsement in: Science, Biology, Health and Physical Education, Physical Education, Health Education, Agriculture Education, or Family and Consumer Sciences Occupational.

Requirements for the Health Sciences Education endorsement

Work experience
This endorsement is available only to those persons who have either A) 1,000 verified hours of paid work experience relevant to the career field; or B) at least 300 hours of supervised work experience relevant to the career field under the direction of the college.

  • CED 423 Coordinating Techniques (3)
  • FCS 416 Family and Consumer Sciences Practicum (3)
  • EDU 409 Content Area Methods and Assessment (3)

Plus one of the following:

  • PED 105 Anatomy and Physiology (3)
  • BIO 220 Human Anatomy (4)
  • BIO 340 Human Physiology (4)
