Music Education Licensure and Certification

Wayne State's Vocal and Instrumental program (PK-12 field endorsement) and Vocal Music Education program (PK-12 subject endorsement) are designed to prepare students for teach licensure or certification in Nebraska. The Music Education graduate program (MSE) does not meet teacher certification/licensure requirements through the Nebraska Department of Education.

If you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Nebraska, it is strongly recommended that you contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding licensure or certification requirements before beginning an academic program. Also, be sure to notify the Director of Education Services at WSC to check for authorization and licensure eligibility requirements if you relocate during the course of a program.

Arkansas music teacher certification

• The Vocal and Instrumental Music Education (PK-12) field endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Instrumental Music K-12 and Vocal Music K-12 endorsement in Arkansas.
• The Vocal Music Education (PK-12) subject endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Vocal Music K-12 endorsement in Arkansas.
• The MSE in Music Education does not meet certification requirements.

• The Vocal and Instrumental Music Education (PK-12) field endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Music endorsement in California.
• The Vocal Music Education (PK-12) subject endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Music endorsement in California.
• The MSE in Music Education does not meet certification requirements.

Colorado music teacher certification

• The Vocal and Instrumental Music Education (PK-12) field endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Music K-12 endorsement in Colorado. You must also take and pass the Praxis 5113 exam.
• The Vocal Music Education (PK-12) subject endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Music K-12 endorsement in Colorado. You must also take and pass the Praxis 5113 exam.
• The MSE in Music Education does not meet certification requirements.

• The Vocal and Instrumental Music Education (PK-12) field endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the Music K-12 endorsement in Florida.

• The MSE in Music Education does not meet certification requirements.

• The Vocal and Instrumental Music Education (PK-12) field endorsement at Wayne State may certify you for the K-8 and 5-12 Music endorsements in Iowa. No Praxis exams required. Licensure in Nebraska is not required for reciprocity.

• Music Education (MSE in Curriculum and Instruction): The Music Education graduate program (MSE) is designed for teachers who are already certified in this content area and serves as an opportunity to go deeper into their specialty while simultaneously earning a master’s degree. This program does not meet initial teacher certification/licensure requirements through the Nebraska Department of Education.
