Praxis Tests for Teacher Candidates
Praxis tests are national exams administered by Educational Testing Service (ETS). Praxis tests measure a teacher candidate's knowledge and subject-specific knowledge needed for teaching K-12 students. Students typically take this test during their senior year.
As of May of 2023, Nebraska no longer requires the Praxis I core (basic skills) test for teacher certification. However, teacher candidates still need to pass the Praxis II subject (content) test as established by the Nebraska Department of Education before being issued a Nebraska initial teaching certificate. Proof of a passing score must be provided to the Nebraska Department of Education. A passing score is not required for graduation.
For a list of subjects and their associated tests for Nebraska, visit the ETS Praxis website. Students should request scores be sent to WSC upon taking the exam.
