College Relations and Marketing

Photography, Video, and Graphic Design Services

We set high standards for ourselves when it comes to design. As an institution of excellence, our design work should look professional to reflect this same standard. Our office produces engaging content using a clean, uncluttered design style with beautiful imagery that will grab your audience’s attention and keep its interest. We encourage all members of campus to reach out to our office for assistance with design and photography services to ensure best representation of the college.

Business cards and name tags

As an employee of the college, you may be able to get a customized WSC business card and name tag. Employees should not design their own business cards without approval from the Director of College Relations.

Business cards and nametags orders are managed through our online ordering system. Please note that you'll need your office/department's budget code to place an order.

Logos and graphics

Logos
Campus logos are created by the Office of College Relations. They are not to be created by campus offices or programs on their own or by campus vendors. Logo creation must first be approved by the Director of College Relations. College and department logos are available for employees on the G drive or upon request by contacting Kristi Nelson at [email protected].

Graphics/Graphic Design
Need a special graphic or full design for your project? The college employs professional graphic designers that can help you with custom graphics for use in your presentations, banners, advertisements, publications, etc. Wayne State complies with copyright and trademark laws when it comes to photography and design. Our graphics are generated in-house, or they are outsourced to professionals and obtained through license. Use of graphics or photos found off the internet are not permitted unless you have consent from the source. We also discourage the use of clip art, as it does not meet our design or brand standards.

To initiate a request for graphic design services, please contact Jay Collier at [email protected].

Photography and videography

Images and video can be powerful storytelling tools. Our office uses a mix of professional, staff, and student photographers and videographers to help tell the stories at WSC. Images are used in our student recruitment marketing materials, campus publications, social media, and various other marketing channels. Videos are distributed via our website, YouTube, social media, and other digital channels. Our photography services include student and employee photography, group shots of students, faculty, and staff, coverage of campus events (when photographers are available), and beauty shots of campus. Our videography services include promotional material for academic programs, events and life on campus, and other aspects that tell the Wayne State story.

To request photography or videography services, please contact Amanda Broberg at [email protected].

Images from our photo collection are also available to the campus community upon request. For assistance in obtaining photos from our collection, please contact Amanda Broberg at [email protected].

Posters and flyers

Need a poster or flyer to advertise your cause or event? Just let us know what information to include, and we'll create the design. Most posters and flyer can be printed on campus through the Copy Center in the library. To initiate design services for posters or flyers, please contact  Jay Collier at [email protected].

Publications and brochures

Campus publications and printing projects are to be coordinated with our office in order to convey a professional, uniform image of the college. Common examples of publications include viewbooks, brochures, newsletters, magazines, reports, handbooks, program fact sheets, etc. In cooperation with the appropriate school or department, the College Relations office can also assist with writing and editing publication content.

For document creation, we can offer guidance and instruction in layout or design, proper logo use, branding, refining your content, editing, and authoring for digital accessibility. All documents (e.g., PDFs, Word files, etc.) should follow WSC's branding guidelines, and in general, maintain some level of professionalism in design and layout. Your document is a reflection of the college and its credibility, and it can affect how others might perceive your office. We ask all employees who are tasked with making handbooks, forms, guides, etc., to follow these standards. Additionally, any document that will be electronically distributed is expected to meet federal guidelines for digital accessibility. If you are creating a PDF or Word file that will be posted online for download, or emailed to students, employees, or the general public, etc., it is important to make sure your document is accessible to people with disabilities and those using different devices.

To request a project or service, contact Jay Collier at [email protected]. In general, one to three weeks lead time is needed, depending on the size and scope of your project. For projects that must be sent to a professional printer, please submit materials at least one month before you need your project in hand. This will allow time to complete the design work and the printer to run the job and deliver it to campus.

Signage, banners, and promotional items

Employees are responsible for choosing the product and vendor they will be using for banners, signage, or other promotional items such as T-shirts. Our office can help guide you in selecting which product might be best for your needs, and we can work with you to provide graphic design services for these items. We will also work with you and your vendor to provide artwork files, ensure branding requirements are followed, and to approve any vendor artwork. To request our services, please contact Jay Collier at [email protected].
