WSC Summer Camps Focus on Sports, Music, Art, Filmmaking, and CSI

Get registered now for summer camps hosted by Wayne State College.

Wayne State College will be hosting a variety of camps this summer, including music, art, filmmaking, and crime scene investigation. Registration is open for these camps for those wishing to reserve a spot.

The College will also host a variety of sports camps, which are available at www.wscsportscamps.com.

Summer Music Camp

The Wayne State College Summer Music Camp is the perfect opportunity to explore musical interests in a fun and positive environment. Campers will get a variety of experiences while learning from professional musicians who are experts in their fields. In addition to taking unique music courses, the camp will include social activities. Attendees will get to make friends with others who share a love for music, with the option to live on campus during the camp.  

The camp is open to students who have completed grades 5-12. Camp runs July 18-21.

The cost for resident campers is $300, which includes meals and housing. Commuting campers will pay $250, which includes meals but no housing.

Art Camps

Wayne State College Art Camps provide opportunities for students to experience art by working with WSC art education students to draw, paint, sculpt, and more. Students aged 5-8 will meet from 10 a.m. to noon and students aged 9-12 will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. on the Wayne State College campus (Studio Arts 123-Drawing Studio).

Students may register for any of the four weeks, June 6-10, June 20-24, July 11-15, and Aug. 1-5, by visiting https://cac.cityofwayne.org. The cost is only $25 per student.

Filmmakers Workshop

The Filmmakers Workshop is a great opportunity to get firsthand experience in filmmaking. The camp provides an introduction in filmmaking led by WSC film professor Dr. Michael White. Designed for teens, campers will plan, shoot, and edit their own short films. All facets of production will be covered, including: casting, set design, location scouting, lighting, shooting, and editing. Two opportunities are offered for the Hot Attic Film School this summer – one at the College Center in South Sioux City and one on the Wayne State College campus.

  • June 13-17, 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Wayne State College’s College Center, 1001 College Way, South Sioux City, NE 68776
  • July 11-15, 8 a.m. to noon Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Wayne State College Humanities Building

Crime Scene Investigation Camp

Students will explore the exciting career of crime scene investigation through hands-on activities in the College’s unique Criminal Justice Crime Scene Investigation Facility. The camp will be held June 15.

Eligibility and cost:

  • Grades 6-8 (completers of these grades) – 9-11:30 a.m. Cost is $50 (includes T-shirt).
  • Grades 9-12 (completers of these grades) – 1-3:30 p.m. Cost is $50 (includes T-shirt).
