About the Physical Education degree program
Wayne State College’s Physical Education degree prepares future teachers to lead engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate physical education programs. Students can pursue teaching endorsements for either PK-6 or 7-12 while completing a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
Coursework combines teacher preparation with study in areas such as anatomy, exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor development, fitness, sports activities, instructional methods, and adapted physical education. Students also build classroom experience throughout the program through field placements and a final semester of clinical practice.
Wayne State students may also participate in the Northeast Nebraska Teacher Academy (NENTA), which gives eligible students the opportunity to gain additional classroom experience as paid substitute teachers while completing their degree.
Graduates are prepared to pursue teacher certification and careers in elementary, middle, and secondary school physical education.
