About Band Day
Numerous high school and junior high school bands march through downtown Wayne in the Homecoming parade and up to the beautiful Willow Bowl on the WSC campus.
Entry into the parade is free for school bands, who may choose to compete against other bands within their class designation or simply participate for constructive comments.
The winning band in each class receives a trophy plus a scholarship in the amount of $200 to be used by any student from that band who plays in the WSC band the following academic year.
The parade is supported financially by Wayne State College, Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce, and Wayne State College Foundation.
Parade and Competition Details
The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of First and Main streets and travel north to WSC (about 14 blocks). The WSC Wildcat Marching Band also performs a short exhibition in the Willow Bowl at the conclusion of the parade and prior to the presentation of the awards.
Bands will be sorted by school size into Classes D2 through B1. There will also be an Open Class for any bands wishing to participate, but not compete (including junior high school bands). Each participating band will receive a plaque of recognition.
