Update: Canvas Cybersecurity Incident, as of May 7, 2026

Updated information about the worldwide cybersecurity incident affecting Canvas, as of 5:55 p.m. May 7, 2026.

Wayne State College’s Learning Management System, Canvas, was taken offline Thursday afternoon because of a cybersecurity event. We understand that this is happening, and we are working on alternatives to administer the remaining final exams and record final grades.

We will continue to provide updates over the next few days. This issue has affected 8,500 institutions that depend on the Canvas platform across the country, so we are not alone in this situation.

Please monitor your email or the College website for updates regarding this situation. We ask that you do not try to log in to Canvas until we have given you the all clear.

We do not have a definite timeline for restoration of Canvas.

We will be in touch with you as we learn more and have information to share with you regarding finals and grades.
