Eighth Annual Film Festival Planned for April 21

High school and college students submit films for review, which will be shown during the day. Students will also participate in film workshops.

Wayne State College will applaud excellence in film at the eighth annual Wildcat Spirit Film Festival on Tuesday, April 21. The festival is hosted by the Wayne State Film Production and Theory Program.

During the day, participating students tour the Wayne State film studios and engage in workshops. Prior to the festival, high schools and colleges from Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota submit films for review. Categories include narrative, comedy, documentary, and science fiction/fantasy. Film screenings will be at 3 p.m. in Ramsey Theatre and Gardner Hall, Room 210.

Evening festivities open with a red carpet and press event at 6 p.m. at The Majestic Theatre, located at 310 Main Street in downtown Wayne. Hot Attic Studios screenings start at 6:30 p.m. The films are written, produced, and directed by Wayne State students. An award presentation will follow at 8 p.m. The screening event is free and open to the public.
