The March 21 event featured band and choir rehearsals, as well as a session hearing about campus development updates.

About 65 Wayne State College music alumni and former music faculty members took a trip down memory lane during Wayne State’s Music Alumni Day held March 21, an event that celebrated music, memories, and friendship.

Participants spent the day rehearsing with the college’s band and choir, reconnecting with former classmates and colleagues, and rekindling their shared passion for music. The event provided a unique opportunity for attendees to revisit their musical roots and engage with the current students and the campus community.

“This event is a great way to stay engaged with our alumni and former faculty members,” said Dr. David Bohnert, dean of Wayne State’s School of Arts and Humanities. “It highlights the lasting impact of Wayne State’s music programs and the strong relationships built here.”

“It’s great to catch up and hear how former students are succeeding in their careers,” said Lofgren. “It’s very gratifying.”

Music Alumni Day was hosted by Wayne State’s Department of Music and the Wayne State Foundation. In addition to a variety of music activities, attendees heard updates on campus developments. The program also featured a nostalgic slideshow showcasing photos from past years.

Jenni Lundahl, a 2008 Wayne State graduate, said Music Alumni Day allowed her to return to the place that helped provide a foundation for her life.

Music Alumni Day continues Wayne State’s efforts to keep the college and alumni more engaged with each other.

“We’re extremely grateful to the alumni and former faculty members for making this event such a huge success,” said Dr. Bob Machovsky, CEO of the Wayne State Foundation. “Music Alumni Day continues to serve as a meaningful tradition that strengthens the Wayne State community across generations.”
