Miller-Niles' 'Storytellers' Piano Recital Set for Feb. 23, 2026

Dr. Angela Miller-Niles will perform at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in Ley Theatre.

Angela Miller-NilesDr. Angela Miller-Niles will present “Storytellers,” a collection of masterful piano repertoire, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in Ley Theatre, located on the second floor of Wayne State College’s Brandenburg Building. Admission is free and open to the public.

Miller-Niles is a professor of music at Wayne State and chair of Wayne State’s Department of Music.

Each selection communicates a narrative of emotion and drama, emphasizing Miller-Niles’ exceptional piano skills. “Waldszenen (Forest Scenes), op. 82” by Robert Schumann evokes the mystery, splendor, and refuge of a dark German forest.

"El Polo" from Iberia, Book 3 by Isaac Albéniz paints a nostalgic, mournful atmosphere influenced by flamenco and Spanish guitar playing. “Canoe” by Adrienne Ingliss portrays an indigenous woman’s harrowing journey, suggesting danger, courage, and eventual respite. “Ballade no. 2 in F major, op. 38” by Frédéric Chopin explores the powerful contrast of pastoral calm with uncertain chaos.
