About the Art Education degree program
Wayne State College’s Art Education degree prepares future art teachers for certification to teach students in grades PK-12. As a field endorsement, the program provides comprehensive preparation in both visual art and professional education.
Students develop skills across areas such as drawing, design, painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, digital imaging, and art history while learning curriculum development, instructional methods, assessment, and classroom management. Field experiences and a semester of clinical practice give students opportunities to apply those skills in real classrooms before beginning their teaching careers.
