We are excited for you to join us, and we are here to help make sure you have everything you need to complete your remaining steps to secure housing, register for classes, and more. Please review the steps below to ensure you are on track to begin your first semester at WSC. If you have any questions, contact your admissions representative.
1. Set up your WSC account and familiarize yourself with myWSC
As a new member of the Wildcat community, you'll need to set up your student account and access to myWSC, an online portal used for accessing several important resources during your time here, like your student email, Wildcats Online, online learning platforms such as Canvas, file storage, and other administrative tools.
Once you have been admitted to Wayne State, you’ll receive your student ID number (NUID) and username, which grants you access to myWSC. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully to set your password and complete the setup process. 2. Install Duo Security
After you activate your WSC account, it’s important to protect it. Please install Duo two-factor authentication (TrueYou Identity Management) on your WSC account to protect your personal information. Duo is mandatory for all WSC students, faculty, and staff.

3. Apply for scholarships
Wayne State offers hundreds of types of scholarships. You can complete our scholarship application process after you have been admitted to WSC. All first-time freshmen who apply for scholarships receive an award.

4. Apply for housing
Let us know you’re ready to become a Wildcat by submitting your $50 housing deposit and completing the housing application process.

5. Apply for financial aid
The FAFSA is available at the end of December. File your FAFSA by WSC’s priority deadline of April 1 to be considered for certain funds. Wayne State’s FAFSA code is 002533.

Financial aid awards letters from Wayne State are distributed in February and March. Please check your student email and make sure to review your award and accept your financial aid package.
6. Review immunization requirements
Wayne State requires proof of two MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccinations or show proof of a positive blood titer to measles (rubeola). Proof must be uploaded to the WildcatsOnline portal.
International students: You must be screened for tuberculosis. A negative Tuberculin (TB) skin test must be done six months prior to enrollment. Positive TB results require a chest x-ray. Please make sure to send a copy of your test results and/or x-ray reports.
Exemption: The Nebraska State College System does have allowances for exemption from immunization. An Immunization Waiver Form can be requested from the Student Health Office pertaining to a medical, religious, or temporary exemption.

7. Attend New Student Registration and register for classes
Register for your fall classes at New Student Registration (NSR)! The purpose of the NSR program is to provide students with a smooth transition to college life. During NSR, you’ll meet with an advisor, register for classes, and learn about all the resources available to you at WSC. All first-time freshmen are encouraged attend a New Student Registration program.
NSR sessions are available during May, June, and July prior to the fall semester in which you are starting your classes.
Preparation tips
WSC participates in the Advanced Placement (AP) program of the College Entrance Examination Board (CEEB). Students may be awarded college credit on the basis of scores on CEEB tests. Maker sure to send in any AP test scores or dual credit transcripts to assist with the registration process.

8. Attend Week of Welcome (new student orientation)
Week of Welcome is a new student orientation program scheduled for the weekend prior to the start of classes in the fall semester. All first-year students, including incoming transfer students living on campus, are automatically registered for WOW when they register for classes.
During Welcome Weekend, you will meet other students, partake in several fun activities, and explore the range of programs and services available to you at Wayne State. You may move into your assigned residence hall as early as 7 a.m. the Friday before classes start.

10. Join us on Facebook
Did you know there is a group just for newly admitted students? We've established a Facebook group just for our newest incoming freshman class. It's a great way to meet your future classmates.

11. Submit final transcript and test scores
You may have sent your official high school transcript when you first applied. To make your admission final, you need to double-check that your school has sent a final official copy showing the date of graduation to the Office of Admissions, as soon as possible. If you have taken any college courses, make sure you request official transcript(s) sent directly to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible.
