Completion of Wayne State's CACREP-accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program meets the educational requirements to apply for a provisional mental health practice license in Nebraska.
To determine whether the WSC’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program will lead to initial licensure in states other than Nebraska, please refer to the table below, which reflects the institution’s good-faith determination as of June 2025, in accordance with NC-SARA (National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements) standards.
Additional Considerations
Students are strongly encouraged to consult directly with the licensing board in the state where they intend to practice. A comprehensive list of licensing authorities is available via the American Counseling Association's Licensure Directory.
For students who pursue the program with the intent to seek initial licensure in a state other than Nebraska, regular review of requirements and compliance of program progress is necessary. Licensure requirements are subject to change and may vary based on individual factors such as prior education or out-of-program coursework. Program progress and pacing may be influenced by state guidelines not otherwise noted here. Course title requirements can differ and necessitate additional documentation upon application for licensure.
State and federal laws dictating licensure requirements continually evolve, so WSC monitors developments to ensure continued compliance. Please direct any situational questions to the listed contact.
