WSC to UNMC Nursing Pathway FAQs
This is a four-year, dual-degree program where you’ll earn both a B.S. in Life Sciences/Health Sciences from WSC and a B.S. in Nursing (BSN) from UNMC:
- First 2 years at WSC (Wayne, Neb.) – Build a strong foundation in science and health courses. UNMC values WSC’s curriculum because it better prepares students for nursing.
- Next 2 years at UNMC (Norfolk, Neb.) – Focus on nursing-specific classes and hands-on clinical training. Your credits transfer back to WSC, so you graduate with two bachelor’s degrees.
No. This is a defined BSN pathway, not a generic transfer or 2+2 program. Students at Wayne State are preparing specifically for UNMC’s BSN program from day one.
Typically, students apply to the UNMC BSN program during their second year at WSC.
Yes. Once admitted to UNMC Norfolk, you’ll complete your BSN as a UNMC student - but your academic foundation and preparation come from Wayne State College.
