Mariachi Negro y Oro Presents Traditional Mexican Music April 24, 2024

The 7:30 p.m. concert is free and open to the public.

Enjoy traditional Mexican music on the Peterson Fine Arts Building’s patio at the Wayne State College Mariachi Negro y Oro concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. The performance is free and open to the public. In case of rain, the concert will be held in Ramsey Theatre.

Mariachi Negro y Oro features a mix of instruments including trumpet, violin, vihuela, guitar, and guitarrón.

Wayne State student soloists include:

  • Lexie Jackson of Gering, Neb.
  • Chase Van Briesen of Bellevue, Neb.
  • Becca Kment of Plainview, Neb.

Josy Mrsny and Angelica Zarate, both of Norfolk, will perform a duet.

The ensemble is directed by Dr. Josh Calkin, professor of music and director of bands at Wayne State.
