Four saxophones and infinite stars await audience members when live music returns to Wayne State College’s Fred G. Dale Planetarium at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Friday, Oct. 21 and 23. The public is invited, and seating is limited. Admission is free, but free-will donations are accepted.

The concert will feature the 1111 Quartet, and audience members will be treated to a carefully curated program of saxophone quartet music synchronized to a celestial display overhead in an immersive concert experience.

The 1111 Quartet consists of Dr. Karl Kolbeck, professor of music at Wayne State, and Wayne State alumni Dr. Lincoln Havranek, Zach Nathan, and Wynter Fulsaas. The planetarium show was designed by Dr. Todd Young, director of the Fred G. Dale Planetarium.

The planetarium is located on the lowest level of Wayne State’s Carhart Science Building. Guests should use the southwest doors to enter. Once inside, go to the stairs at the south end of the building and go down to the lowest level. You may also take the elevator. Carhart Science and the planetarium are handicap accessible.
