Concert repertoire includes a “La La Land” medley, featuring a new arrangement of “A Lovely Night” by Shelly Armstrong; “Sunday” from “Sunday in the Park with George;” and “Seasons of Love” from “Rent.” In addition, the Wayne State Chamber Choir will perform the high-energy, swing-style “As Long As I’m Singing,” from a jukebox musical based on the life of Bobby Darin.

The Musical Theatre Honor Choir is selected from hundreds of auditions submitted by high schools in a four-state region. This year’s choir blends 36 gifted voices.

Throughout the day, students study vocal technique and expressive performance in musical theatre repertoire. Members of the Wayne State Chamber Choir lead sectional rehearsals with the final rehearsal and concert led by Dr. Matthew Armstrong, director of choral activities at Wayne State, and Shelly Armstrong, Wayne State’s collaborative pianist.
