College and community members are invited to march to The Majestic Theatre in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., for a showing of the documentary “13th” on Monday, Jan. 19. The march will begin at the Carhart Science Building’s planetarium entrance. Participants should gather at 6 p.m., and the march will begin at 6:15 p.m.
The documentary “13th” will be at 7 p.m. at The Majestic Theatre, located at 310 Main Street in downtown Wayne. Doors open at 6 p.m. The title refers to the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, adopted in 1865, which abolished slavery throughout the United States and ended involuntary servitude. Admission to the documentary is free.
According to the documentary’s IMDb webpage, “13th” is an in-depth look at the prison system in the United States and how it reveals the nation's history of racial inequality.
Following the documentary, a facilitated discussion will be held.
