The "Fables and Foundations" exhibit will be open through mid-January 2026.
Vivid creativity shines at the Fall 2025 Senior Art Exhibit opening Wednesday, Nov. 19, with a 4:30 p.m. reception in the Nordstrand Visual Arts Gallery, located on the main level of U.S. Conn Library. The public is invited to attend, and the exhibit is free and open to the public through mid-January 2026.
Inspired by stories and worldbuilding, “Fables and Foundations” features artwork by Wayne State seniors, Rylee Ross of Ralston, Neb., and Aidyn Baloun of Sioux Falls, S.D. Both are studio art majors and provide unique perspectives using various materials.
Ross employs photography, painting, pottery, digital works, and drawing to shape sculpture influenced by architecture and tattoo art. His works use wood, mixed media, ceramics, and steel. Myths and fables animate Baloun’s works including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings; mixed media; intaglio and relief printmaking; photography; collage; cyanotype; and sculpture.
The gallery is open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 3 to 7 p.m. It is closed on Saturday. Shows end at noon on closing day.
