It's a weekend of fun activities for Wayne State students and their families!
Wayne State College is excited to welcome students and their families for Family Day on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Here is a schedule of activities:
9 a.m.-Noon: Check-in at the Kanter Student Center atrium
- Arts and crafts (all free while supplies last)
- Pick up free tickets for planetarium shows. All shows are in the Fred G. Dale Planetarium, located on the lowest level of the Carhart Science Building. Enter through the southwest doors. Once inside, go to the stairs at the south end of the building and go down to the lowest level. You may also take the elevator. Carhart Science and the planetarium are handicap accessible. Doors open 20 minutes prior to the start of a show, and all shows last about 45 minutes.
9 a.m.-5 p.m.: Natural History Museum in Carhart Science Building, room 113 (Check out our huge bear!)
10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Campus bookstore is open
11 a.m.: “STARS” planetarium show
11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Family brunch in the Upper Dining Room
Noon: “Astronaut” planetarium show
Noon: Airbrush artist with snap-back hats in Student Center atrium
1 p.m.: “Oasis in Space” planetarium show
1-3:30 p.m.: “Games on the Green,” games and other activities, Bowen Hall lawn and Hoffbauer Plaza (south side of Student Center)
2 p.m.: “Two Small Pieces of Glass” planetarium show
3 p.m.: “Dawn of the Space Age” planetarium show
4-5 p.m.: Tom Kennedy, comedy mentalist – a free mentalist performance, Ramsey Theatre in the Fine Arts Building
4-6 p.m.: Family dinner in the Upper Dining Room
4:30 p.m.: Gates open at Memorial Stadium
5-6 p.m.: Tailgate at Bob Cunningham Field (south end zone). Tickets can be purchased on site.
6 p.m.: Football kickoff vs. University of Mary. Tickets can be purchased on site. Enjoy fireworks after the game!
