For the 2025-26 academic year, the NESCPA Foundation will award $126,700 in scholarships to 96 accounting students at 14 Nebraska colleges and universities, according to the NESCPA.
“At the Nebraska Society of CPAs, we believe in building a strong future for the accounting profession by investing in students through our Foundation,” said Joni Sundquist, president and executive director of NESCPA. “Each scholarship is a stepping stone that helps remove barriers, open doors, and bring aspiring CPAs closer to their dreams. We’re proud to partner with colleges like Wayne State to support the next generation of business and financial leaders across Nebraska.”
All Nebraska scholarship recipients will be invited to the NESCPA’s annual meeting scheduled for Nov. 5 at the Crete Carrier Riverview Lodge at Mahoney State Park in Ashland. The event offers students the opportunity to connect with accounting professionals from across Nebraska and to be honored as NESCPA scholars.
“Wayne State College is pleased to see the NESCPA Foundation supporting our students through scholarships and professional connections,” said Kelly Legler, instructor of business and co-advisor of the Future Business Leaders of America Collegiate chapter at Wayne State. “This partnership will strengthen the accounting talent pipeline and help attract and prepare the next generation of CPAs to meet the growing demand for accounting professionals.”
According to the NESCPA’s website, the Foundation aims to elevate the CPA profession in Nebraska by awarding scholarships, enhancing accounting education, and supporting initiatives designed to cultivate and attract new individuals to the CPA profession. Its mission is to empower a new era of CPAs who are not only skilled but also innovative and forward-thinking, ready to lead and shape the future of the accounting profession in Nebraska.
Since 1976, the NESCPA Foundation has supported the future of the CPA profession in Nebraska by sponsoring scholarships for accounting students attending Nebraska colleges and universities.
