Music and fun flourished for about 100 middle school and high school students at Wayne State College’s annual Summer Music Camp held June 30 through July 3. Participants were from Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Colorado.

Campers experienced learning opportunities in concert band, jazz band, jazz improv techniques, musical theater, music technology, songwriting, choir, ukulele, group drumming, mariachi, piano, video game music, and an audition workshop. Campers also participated in instrument or voice lessons.

The week culminated with a concert finale featuring the concert band, jazz band, and choir. The four-day camp also offered the campus living experience and social activities such as a talent show, lip sync battle, water balloons, scavenger hunt, and chalk art.

Participants praised their experience with comments such as: “I had the best time ever and I know you will too.” “Top-notch excitement.” “Takes music to the next level.” “The best part of a musician’s summer.” “Insanely fun.” “One of my favorite life experiences ever.” “Very joyful and educational experience.” “The WSC Music Camp is such an amazing opportunity.” “It is a great place for learning with a fun and friendly atmosphere!”
