Machovsky will begin his duties April 21.
The Wayne State College Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert “Bob” Machovsky as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective April 21, 2025.
With more than two decades of experience in advancement and philanthropic leadership, Machovsky brings a proven track record of building strong donor relationships and leading successful fundraising initiatives. His passion for higher education and deep commitment to student success align perfectly with the Foundation’s mission to support and advance Wayne State College.
A native of South Dakota, Machovsky earned his bachelor’s degree in Allied Health from the University of South Dakota, his master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University, and his doctorate of education in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri. His most recent role was as the associate director of development at the University of Iowa Center for Advancement.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bob Machovsky as the new CEO of the Foundation,” said Brenda Carhart, president of the Wayne State Foundation. “His visionary leadership and strategic insight will be invaluable as we continue to grow our impact and support the college’s goals.”
Machovsky, his wife, Katie, and their son, Lincoln, look forward to being part of the Wayne community. Outside of work, Machovsky and Katie enjoy taking Lincoln to parks, playing outside with their dog Kota, and planning family vacations.
“This is an exciting time to join Wayne State College and be part of the Wayne community,” Machovsky said. “I am eager to collaborate with the Foundation Board, alumni, college community, and current Foundation team. The team is already doing great work, and I know together we will be successful in meeting the vision and implementing the strategic initiatives of the College, Foundation Board, and President Rames.”
Machovsky succeeds Melissa Nelsen, who has served as interim CEO since July 1, 2024. Nelsen will resume her role as director of major gifts, where she will continue to play a vital role in the Foundation’s advancement efforts.
