“An Evening of Choirs” features the Wayne State Concert Choir, Lyrica, and Fortis conducted by Dr. Matthew Armstrong, director of choral activities at Wayne State, with piano accompaniment by Shelly Armstrong, Wayne State’s collaborative pianist. Select songs spotlight Wayne State student conductors Josie Mikoloyck of Scottsbluff and Kora Keslin of McCook. Tyler Baue of Wausa serves as assistant conductor for Fortis.

Repertoire for Lyrica includes a Latin motif by Nancy Hill Cobb, the amusing “Three Quotes by Mark Twain” by Andrea Ramsey, and the poignant ballad “I’m Not that Girl” from “Wicked.”

Fortis adds the charm of traditional chanteys, the classic “Good Night Ladies” by Edwin Pearce Christy, and the 1950s doo-wop “Come Go with Me” by C.E. Quick.

The Concert Choir presents the elegance and grace of folk, Renaissance, and art songs; the powerful imagery of “Living in a Holy City” by Stephen Hatfield; and a Wayne State tradition “The Lord Bless and Keep You” by John Rutter.
