Student Spotlight: Brody Lucas

Brody Lucas

Part of the 2024-25 Student Spotlight Series, featuring Brody Lucas of Norwalk, Iowa.

Wayne State’s Willow Bowl and overall campus landscape were major influences when Brody Lucas decided to transfer to Wayne State. The native of Norwalk, Iowa, who is majoring in Exercise Science, is this week’s focus of the Student Spotlight Series.

The community of Wayne was also a factor.

“My parents and I loved the feeling we got from the college and the community,” said Lucas, who transferred from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa. “My tour of campus is what really sold me on coming here, and my parents loved it as well. They know that I’m in a good environment here, and they don’t have to worry about me.”

While the campus and community were big factors in Lucas’s decision to come to Wayne State, the college’s Exercise Science major also played a big role.

“I’ve had a passion for sports my entire life,” said Lucas, who is member of the Wildcat track and cross country teams. “My goal is to help people keep from getting injured and to help them keep in shape. Wayne State’s health and human performance instructors and facilities are fantastic.”

At Wayne State, Lucas is active in the SPORTS (Students Pursuing Occupations Related to Sports) Club and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Lucas will graduate in May 2026, and he intends to pursue a career in exercise science or sport management.
