Student Conductors Concert Set for Dec. 3, 2024

The 7:30 p.m. concert also features the Wayne State Symphonic Band.

Six Wayne State College music students debut their conducting skills during the Student Conductors Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, in Ramsey Theatre, located in the Peterson Fine Arts Building. The concert, free and open to the public, features the Wayne State Symphonic Band.

Student conductors include Jayden Carper of West Point, Neb.; Samantha Coffin of Homer, Neb.; Morgan Czajkowski of Lincoln, Neb.; Hannah Essink of Beatrice, Neb.; Katie Hrnchir of Trenton, Neb.; and Chase Van Briesen of Bellevue, Neb. Concert repertoire captures themes of adventure, playfulness, and infectious energy. The students gain hands-on experience under the guidance of Dr. Josh Calkin, professor of music and director of bands at Wayne State.
