The faculty clarinet recital is free and open to the public.
A powerful, yet graceful, buoyancy flows through Dr. Karl Kolbeck’s faculty clarinet recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Wayne State College’s Ley Theatre, located in the Brandenburg Building. Kolbeck will be accompanied by Shelly Armstrong on piano.
The concert is free and open to the public and will also be livestreamed. To view the livestream, go to www.wsc.edu/watch-live.
Repertoire for clarinet and piano includes the enchanting, tempestuous “Sonata in Eb Major, op. 120 no. 2” by Johannes Brahms, and the elegant energy of “Andante” from “Sonata in A Major” by Alice Mary Smith. Kolbeck delivers an emotional solo performance of “The Children of the Tribes” by Eva Wasserman-Margolis, followed by the ever-amusing “Immer Kleiner” (Always Smaller) by Adolf Schreiner.
