Repertoire challenges Genslinger’s trumpet skills with equally demanding accompaniment. Selections include the fast-paced, jazz classic “Rhapsody in Blue” by George Gershwin and the multifaceted “Concerto in E-flat Major” by Johann Nepomuk Hummel. “Passages for B-flat trumpet and fixed media” invites Genslinger to interpret and improvise as he blends live trumpet with recorded sound. Commissioned in 2022 by the International Trumpet Guild, “Passages” features the Native American flute, Taos drums, harp guitar, and eagle bone.
